Department:

The Corporate Strategy Group is a global shared services function working across Cox Automotive. This role supporting the “Europe” region has a matrix reporting line into the Cox Automotive International (CAI) division which includes all markets outside of the US. 

Europe is a growth region for Cox Automotive with a mature UK business of significant scale contrasting with smaller Continental European operations, primarily in Germany and Spain.

The function is instrumental in leading the strategic planning process for the group, providing external context and insight to drive organisation success.

Role:

The Head of Strategy Europe will lead projects that define our strategic options and enables our business leaders to make better decisions about our strategic priorities and how best to implement them. This role will be critical in helping Cox Automotive prioritise focus areas (including geographies) and help ensure our Brands/BUs (organised into Solution Sets) to achieve their financial and strategic objectives. 

You will work closely with Corporate Strategy team members, Solution Set leaders and Directors of Cox Automotive’s various Brands/BUs to accomplish organisational goals and strategies. This role will lead strategy projects and initiatives.  

The position is responsible for growing key stakeholder partnerships that support development and growth, providing a different opinion, challenge and thought leadership across all lines of business within Cox Automotive. This position requires the candidate to possess core strategy and analysis skills, as well as the project definition and execution skills.  The job holder should have ability to lead, inspire confidence and influence others by acting as a strategic partner to business leaders.  The position demands frequent interactions with all levels of the organisation and externally.

Although the role has a European geographic focus the small International team within the Corporate Strategy Group is expected to work in an agile manner on projects, tasks and initiatives across multiple geographies and time zones. The countries of focus in Europe are UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Benelux.

Skills:

  • Strategic thinking, planning and analysis
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Ability to analyse complex information and draw insights
  • Strong aptitude for business/investment case development (working with functional stakeholders operations, etc)
  • Critical thinker able to develop scenarios, challenge convention and develop alternative perspectives
  • Able to facilitate and foster collaboration
  • Adept at handling multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines
  • Strong relationship building skills (internal stakeholders, cross CAI working and 3rd parties)
  • Highly organised with good project management skills
  • Strong communicator (vertically and horizontally, oral and written)
  • Intercultural flexibility and experience with language skills an advantage
  • Degree educated or equivalent  
  • Strategic Planning and/or management consulting experience preferred
  • Travel as needed (<10%) UK based but consideration given to applicants from Germany
